The Jak and Daxter logo is emblematic, and many fans (including me!) would have loved to write things in the same style… and that is now possible! Play around with it here, more info on it below, and of course a download link at the end.

Why make this now?
Some backstory: I've always been a huge Jak and Daxter fan (I still use the username JaKhris — very original, I know), as it was my first game on PlayStation 2, and I used to run a J&D fansite called JAKPRO back in the day, which closed (I won't lie, that was a bitter experience). It got revived as "The Naughty Kennel", a fansite more broadly about Naughty Dog games, but then it closed as well as my available time dwindled once more. Maintaining a dying breed of websites is no small feat — hats off to my friends at Ratchet-Galaxy!
I'm not sure why, but some time during July 2021, I had a nostalgic feeling for these games, thinking back to my webmastering days, and making J&D-based fanart and whatnot. I always thought to myself "How come we never got some font based on this logo?" I wanted to make one myself all those years ago, but my graphic design skills were terrible, and my font-making skills were non-existent. Nowadays, I can handle it (well, you can be the judge of that), so I set out to make it! It's based on the logo and various promotional material or concept art I found, and then lots of creative liberty.
The joys of writing your username with the font of your favourite video game are real. I've always been a bit of a typeface nerd, so this was a really fun project! I hope you enjoy using this to make your own J&D-themed creations, and please share them with me on Twitter or on Mastodon!
Notes
This is meant to be a "helper" to make it easy to design a custom title in your favourite design program — I've done my best but it might not look perfect for every word. Make sure to leverage uppercase and lowercase letters, ligatures and alternates separately to compose your ideal custom logo!
Fun Facts
- The "8" and "&" characters were designed with the Seal of Mar in mind, while the other numbers drew inspiration from the "Precursor Alpha" font you see in-game.
- The "Pro" ligature is a reproduction of part of the JAKPRO logo made by Nicolas Mrikhi (a.k.a. NicoJak), who also created the fan-made "The Lost Frontier" logo with the Mar symbol you might have seen around. They helped me get into graphic design, so as a little homage I decided to include it!
